People all around the world suffer from weight problems, this complication mainly arises due to their misconceptions regarding dieting. Food lovers or as we call “Foodies” are usually more prone to suffer from obesity and health problems due to which they find it difficult to burn that fat off. They are confused by all the conflicting nutritional advice out there due to many diet myths, which is why they are unable to enjoy their eating lifestyle or lose that weight they carry. Some common myths that have been observed by researchers are discussed below:
1) Eating Carbohydrates Makes You Obese
For once in our lives we all have believed that eating
carbohydrates is the reason behind our weight gain. Well, that’s a myth.
Maintaining a healthy diet is all about keeping the right amount of balance in
your nutrition. Same is the case with carbohydrates, in fact they are an
essential part of having a healthy and balanced diet. Carbs are needed by our
body in order for it to function properly. It gives you vitamins like iron,
calcium, fiber which is needed to support the digesting system in your body and
help you feel full for a long time. However, carbs can become unhealthy only
when high caloric foods are added to them.
2) Starving Yourself
People oftenly starve themselves in order to get rid
of that extra fat they carry. They follow such strict diets such as “keto-diet”
which includes smaller portions and involves no kind of snacks or treats. Well
guess what? They stop following that diet after a while because they feel
tired, exhausted and miserable along with signs of little or no weight loss. This
happens because they find it hard to be consistent with it. A diet can only be healthy
if it is do-able, fulfills all kind of nutrition your body needs and one which
can be followed throughout your life. Although, these restrictive diets may not
help you with weight loss but following a healthy balanced diet and physical
activity can.
3) Slimming Pills Are Safe
Slimming pills may or may not help you with your
weight loss journey but they can be extremely harmful for your health. People
get exhausted and tired of following strict diets that they might go to any extreme
to lose fat and look how they want to. There are prescribed medicines available
for weight loss but they aren’t suitable for everyone. The most effective yet
efficient way to reduce excess weight is to reduce the caloric intake and
become more physically active.
4) Low Fat Foods Are Healthy
Fats are important for our bodies. However, having
foods with excess fat and high calories can lead to health problems and
obesity. Similarly, low fat foods are unhealthy for your body as it doesn’t
fulfill the need of our body.
5) Intense exercise is the only way to
lose weight
Many people believe this myth that intense exercise is the only solution to their weight loss dilemma. Well that’s not true, exercise helps with weight loss but the main key factor lies within what you eat. Regular exercise is good for your physical and mental health which should be included in one’s lifestyle. It can affect your mood positively and even help you sleep better. However, Vigorous exercise is not suitable for everyone, such as people with asthma or people who have any other medical condition.
The best
way to lose weight is to follow the easiest diet which one can follow that
contains all nutrients in a balanced amount and helps people maintain a healthy
lifestyle without making them give up their favorite foods.
